My B-day
On Friday was my birthday :)
Some special things about this day:
- just after midnight I got a "happy birthday!" call from alis
- Mada send me a very nice present by email
- I got "Happy B-day!" emails from people I didn't expect :)
- when I arrived in the MC office, colleagues started singing "Happy B-day"
I gave some thought to this event, turning 23 and I realised I am really young, in a period when I can do or start doing whatever goes through my mind.
Furthermore, these weekend I realised to things about myself which make me really happy, you know, some self-discovery things :)
In the afternoon, I went to Rotterdam for the AI transition Party so actually my B-day party was with a lot of strangers but still I felt good. I missed having dear friends with me!
As a present: pictures from this 16 days spent in Belgium and The Netherlands ;)

First days in Belgium
Getting to Bruxelles
On Friday, June 30th I arrived in Bruxelles.
The trip was pleasant: 5 hours by minibus to budapest, waited for 3 hours, than a 2 hours flight to Charleroi, and finally 30 minutes by bus to Bruxelles.
I was very curious of my reaction when flying since it was the first time, but it was great, I love when the plane turns one side, it's like a rollercoaster :)
Reception in Belgium is different than in Timisoara for a new commer. We usually take good care of the new foreigners but here is different. Might be a combination of the fact that Belgium people are not so warm as Romanians and on the other side there are so many foreigners in Bruxelles that here is not so special to welcome a foreigner.
Living in Bruxelles
Adress: Rue Masseaux 41
Neighbourhood: The turkish one
A 4 rooms' apartment with kitchen and bathroom, 2nd floor
My room is 20 square meters, currently taken by Kevin. At the moment I am staying in the guests room by the end of July when MC transition is over.
Collegues in the apartment: Makis Karras (Greece) and another 1-2 foreigners. By the end of July Amritha (India) is staying there also.
First activities
On Friday I watched the last part of Argentina-Germany, went to the apartment, went around the neighbourhood for turkish food, got it, went back home and went to bed quite early.
On Saturday I went shopping to a supermarket which is very cheap, and than went to a picnic as one of the Romanian trainees in DHL is leaving, Daniela Ababei from Brasov. The picnic took place in a beatifull park called Parc de Woluwe. There were probably 30 people from 20 counties and the boys got to play football.
Saturday evening I went to an alumni who was celebrating his bithday and we also got to see France-Brazil 1-0
On Sunday I went shopping for more than 3 hours as July is the sales month in Belgium so prices for some products drop with 10 to 60 percent.

Romanians in Bruxelles
Since I arrived I met 6 Romanians, either having an internship, either working for a multinational company. I got to talk to some of them inlcuding Ase (Adriana Selage) former LCP in Timisoara 99-00, MC and MCP 01-02 and AI 02-03.
Tomorrow is going to be my first day at work :)
That's it for now!
I am looking forwrd for your comments

The day before leaving
Helou,
Last night when I was packing everything I finally realised that I am preaparing to leave. Wow huh!
I knew I am going in Belgium since March and I had the feeling that the moment to leave is far away.
It finally came!
When going through the tone of materials I have many memories came in my mind, plans, outputs, pictures, sugar cubes, badges, books from school, postcards and many-many other things. I am full of memories!!! Great ones! I realised that in 23 years i built many relations with people and I used to take them for granted in the daily life by now.
Starting from tomorow I will maintain them through IT&C technology and meetings with them 2-3 times per year.
I feel so challenged ... especially as a human not as a professional that will perform a job. I usually adapt after a while so keep your fingers crossed.
It's like going from hotish to coldish weather ... as a metaphore you can check the weather

Next time I will be blogging from Bruxelles!
All the best!

The mountains
I was born in a city in the mountains called:

The city is half way the distance between Timisoara and Baile Herculane, a beatiful place where I went last weekend with Alis, Andreea, Corina, Rio (trainee) and Kevin (MCP of Belgium).
I love mountains and I enjoyed this trip a lot, going hitch hiking, climbing the mountains, admiring the landscape, eating in the grass, no engines, no concrete just the sound of moschitos and crickets. Great!!!

going up ...

taking a picture ...

admiring the landscape ...

going in a cave

Having dinner ....
I will miss this! As you know Belgium is very flat :)

Welcome to my blog
I've created my blog with a special ocasion:
On June 30 2006 (2 weeks from now) I'm leaving Romania, going to Brussels, Belgium for 13 months. I'll have a job in AIESEC in Belgium as national vice-president on People Development (HR somehow).
There are many people I care about and I did this blog especially for them, so that they can read about what's going on in my life even though I am not in the same city, country, continent or planet :) as them.
I am inviting you to post comments or write me emails any time you feel, I will be glad to hear from you also :)
